ALT-J: An Awesome Wave CLR

LP Record The unusual name of the band alt-J comes from the key combination for the delta symbol – assuming you're using a Mac with a British keyboard layout. The music from this exceptional band from Leeds is as unusual as its name. While you might hear references to Wild Beasts, Radiohead (during their "In Rainbows" era), or The xx, alt-J can't be pigeonholed with any of them. And descriptions like "folk-step" or "Nick Drake meets gangsta rap" hardly do justice to the band's innovative sound. On their brilliant debut, alt-J explore a wide range of soundscapes between folk, hip hop, indie, and pop, sounding refreshingly different and more modern than most of what's currently on the music market.
