American Beauty - DVD

On the surface, the Burnhams are a happy family where everything is sunny. A comfortable house, a car of a good brand, a charming teenage daughter studying at the right school, parents successful in their profession. No wonder Mrs Burnham is always all smiles - at least in public. In reality, however, everything is different. The image of perfection is constantly spoiled for mother Carolyn and daughter Jane by father Lester. He is not the shoulder-shouldered, swarthy "playboy" and what is worse, he is increasingly showing that he is not doing well and that he is dissatisfied with his life. As long as he just rejects the role that hundreds like him devotedly play to keep them quiet, it is difficult but bearable for the family. But yesterday, the indecisive and blinkered Lester decides to solve his "midlife crisis" in an unexpectedly radical way.
