Novel by Petr Stančík, winner of the 2015 Magnesia Litera Prize for prose
Petr Stančík's novel is set in the first half of the 20th century. The main character Augustin Hnát was born thanks to a mermaid. His mother runs around the forest with the deer, his father chose a village fool as his godfather. Instead of a head, it has an egg, which hatches angels of strange ideas. He'd probably live a boring life, if it weren't for my friendship with the scarecrow, the invention of the infinitist, Siberian anabasis, of a devastating love affair with a shell, of two world wars and one military defector. The plot leads to a tragic denouement, where all humour ends. The audiobook was recorded in the DAMU studio under the direction of director Dimitrij Dudík. The main role was played by Lukáš Hlavice. The author of the original music is Kryštof Marek.
