How would we have behaved in the time of executions and concentration camps?
Portraits of twelve musical personalities whose lives were influenced by the tragic era of the building of the Third Reich. Some participated voluntarily, others out of fear for themselves and their loved ones, and still others were more or less forced. How did Herbert von Karajan, Franz Lehár, Carl Orff, Richard Strauss and others behave in their time? And how would any of us have behaved in the time of executions and concentration camps?
The factual work, full of historical discoveries and unpublished information, was read by Miroslav Táborský and Martin Zahálka, the music was composed by Alexander Goldscheider, who is also the author and interpreter of the foreword.
A musical bonus of the recording is the world premiere of Matěj Kroupa's composition Alma Osud (1976) (recorded by Alma Ansámbl), dedicated to the outstanding violinist of the 1930s, Alma Rosé (1906-1944), murdered in Auschwitz.
