Anna's escape

Anna spent more than fifty years at Severino's side. But one day, she packed her bags and left home without explanation. After a year of waiting, Severino leaves the island of Stromboli and sets out to find his wife. So begins his journey across Sicily, a nostalgic visit to the places where he and Anna lived, but also a journey back in time, into memories of the key moments of their life together. During this journey, Severino will have to deal not only with the many surprising facts about his inscrutable wife that gradually come to light, but also with the ghosts of the man and woman he and Anna could have become if circumstances had allowed them to make different choices in life.
Mattia Corrente has constructed a deep, authentic story in a small space, which, thanks to the polyphonic narration on several time planes, gradually comes together like a mosaic, leaving the impression that despite all its complexities, every sip of life has its own uniqueness and beauty.
