Apollo 13 - DVD

Barely a year had passed since man first set foot on the Moon, but for Americans, APOLLO 13 was just another "routine" flight - until the following announcement from space: "HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM." Thirty-six hours after liftoff, the ship's commander, Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), reports a malfunction on the spacecraft to the control centre. Instead of the planned lunar landing, the only goal became the rescue of the astronauts and their safe return to Earth. Directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, and Kathleen Quinlan, this is an exciting space drama depicting this very event. Impressive visual effects, a compelling narrative and excellent performances contribute greatly to the success of this riveting film about the courage, solidarity and ingenuity of humanity's representatives. Their story is all the more remarkable because it actually happened.
