Applause for no one
What becomes of a person when they take off their mask?
Not every mask hides a hero. When a car carrying politician Marek Dulla explodes, his death initially attracts a great deal of attention, but is very quickly forgotten. Just like him. His son Andrej, who hasn't spoken to his father for over ten years, also tries to forget, but a mysterious businessman named Huth persuades him to try and write his father's true story. Through the testimonies of his father's close associates, he gets to know a man who wanted to save everything but could never find the time for his own son. Andrej learns many things about himself, and perhaps also about who is behind his father's death. The novel, written in the form of a report, describes Slovakia as it could have been if politicians had made the right decisions at key moments. Despite this, it is not immune to political intrigue, fascists, cowards in politics, personal disappointments, unresolved traumas, and grandparents left to face it all alone.
