Direwolves, giant monsters once thought to be mere legend, have suddenly appeared in the hills and valleys of Celtica
Direwolves are much larger than ordinary wolves. Maddie and Will travel to the neighbouring country with the aim of uncovering who or what is behind these dangerous beasts. Will is not thrilled about the journey to Celtica, as he has bad memories from his time as an apprentice. Maddie, meanwhile, is grappling with the supernatural, which seems to be lurking everywhere. But they are both Rangers—and Rangers will do whatever it takes to complete their mission, no matter the circumstances. When they receive help from the local people, they learn the name of the sorceress behind the strange and dangerous attacks. Will they also be able to find her hiding place?
John Flanagan
The Australian writer first worked as an advertising copywriter and later as a freelance editor. He also wrote scripts for television comedies. The fantasy world that readers all over the world now enter was originally created for his son, whom he wanted to introduce to reading in a fun way. Today, he is one of Australia's most prolific novelists, and his highly successful works include the fantasy series, Ranger's Apprentice.

Matouš Ruml was first drawn to acting as a young boy in the Children's Theatre Studio. He began performing on stage in children's roles alongside renowned actors. Today, he is a member of the Municipal Theatre in Mladá Boleslav and a guest performer at the Na prádle Theatre and the Švandovo Theatre in Prague. He has also played several television characters, for instance in the film The Princess and the Scribe and the popular series Comeback. For his musical and dramatic art, he received the Zuzana Navarová Award and the Thalia Award for a young stage actor.
