Asian in Czech Republic
Between two worlds, with humour and perspective
Where is Czech-Vietnam and what is it like to live there? Do Thu Trang, known for her blog Asijatka.cz, uses a light-hearted style in her autobiographical debut to describe the everyday thoughts and situations she encounters as a Czech-Vietnamese woman, which sometimes leave her bewildered. She analyses the complexity of family relationships and her own identity, as well as the search for roots, not just for the second Vietnamese generation in the Czech Republic. With humour and empathy, she reflects on life in the Czech-German borderlands, the upbringing of Vietnamese girls in Bohemia, and the cultural differences that distinguish the Czech and Vietnamese communities—as well as what unites us all.
