Astrid Parker has it all under control
Audiobook Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail, written by Ashley Herring Blake, translated by Petra Kubašková. Read by Eliška Nejedlá, directed by Jakub Tabery.
Bright Falls #2
The contemporary romance series Bright Falls continues with its second instalment, which fulfils the theory that opposites attract.
For Astrid Parker, any kind of failure is unacceptable. She broke up with her fiancé a year ago and has been focusing on her career ever since. (Her friends would say she's obsessed with work, but Astrid is simply driven.) When Astrid gets an offer to take on the renovation of the Everwood Inn as an interior designer, she jumps at it immediately. And not just because the project is set to be televised as part of a popular renovation show. For Astrid, the Everwood is the perfect distraction from her failed relationships and a chance to finally earn her domineering mother's approval.
But Astrid hadn't counted on Jordan Everwood, the granddaughter of the inn's owner and a carpenter, who is supposed to be in charge of the renovation alongside Astrid. Jordan disagrees with every attempt at modernisation that Astrid proposes. Jordan is determined to keep her family's history as untouched as possible, especially when her own personal life is in shambles. And when Jordan's determination escalates into a tiny bit of sabotage that gets on Astrid's last nerve, the show's production team asks Astrid and Jordan to lean into their rivalry a little for the sake of entertainment.
However, their rivalry can't gradually turn into something else entirely. Into possibilities that will force Astrid to decide what success means to her: the life and career that are expected of her... or the life she truly wants?
