A detective story written by a detective. Next in the series with Chief Superintendent William Wisting
During a single summer week, the sea washes four left feet in sneakers onto the beach near Stavern. Local police are facing a mystery: Where are the bodies to which the legs originally belonged? Who disfigured them like this and why? And is it possible that these are three pensioners and a mentally ill woman who have been missing since the autumn?
Wisting doesn't know what to do, and the arrival of his daughter, who has decided to write a report on how people sentenced to long prison terms for serious crimes have had their lives changed by their time behind bars, doesn't make things any easier. Once again, police and journalistic work intersect unexpectedly when long-covered facts that should never have come to the surface come to light.
