Famous French Chansons
French chanson in the 1960s had a major influence on Czech listeners of all generations. We could admire it in original performances, mainly by Parisian artists such as. Edith Piaf, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud, Juliette Greco and many others, but also with wonderful Czech texts by our important lyricists (Pavel Kopta, Ivo Štuka, Jiřina Fikejzová ad. ) performed by Hana Hegerová, Judita Čeřovská or Rudolf Pellar. With the release of this CD AIME-MOI we bring back forgotten songs to a wide range of chanson fans.

Marta Balejová was born into a musical family and started playing the piano at the age of four. "At that time there was a recording studio, Sluníčko', in the Children's House in Prague, where proud mothers would bring their children and take away shellac records with recordings of their children's songs and poems. I still have this gem called 'Martička', which was made on the back of a rocking horse and which is proof that I am definitely not afraid to enter the recording studio. ” Gradually she joined the piano and chose singing and cello as her main profession.

Marta Balejová studied singing and songwriting. She first discovered French chansons performed by Edith Piaf at an early age. Chanson has accompanied her throughout her life because of its uniqueness. He translates French chansons into Czech for the Czech audience. In 2017 she published these Czech texts in a collection called Ruleta.

Marta Balejová is a member of the free association of chansonists "Chanson, a public thing", in the programmes "Edith & Frank" and "Rendez-vous with French chanson" she collaborates with actor and singer Filip Sychra and pianist and composer Petr Ožana, in another programme "Café in Paris" you can hear her in collaboration with pianist and composer Radim Linhart.

In 2002 Marta Balejová began her collaboration with the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín. It was in the programme "Tribute to Edith Piaf", charting the life story of the most famous chansonnier of all time, the "tragedienne of chanson". Together with the prominent Czech actress Libuša Švormová, they also presented the fate of this singer and her world-famous chansons in cooperation with the South Bohemian Philharmonic in České Budějovice, the Moravian Philharmonic in Brno, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic and the North Bohemian Philharmonic in Teplice. Marta Balejová already has this performance in her repertoire without large symphony orchestras. In 1997 she released a CD Pocta Edith Piaf, in 2007 another CD called Life is a Big Carousel, which includes not only French chansons but also chansons by Czech authors.
