Bandits of Arizona

The sun blazed down, but it was lively in the shadow of the rock face. At its foot was scree that merged into the desert. You could feel the closeness of the river. The Gila was the only river that flowed through the desert. It wasn't visible because the rock stood between it and the small station. Early in the morning, it protected the station from the murderous rays, but when the sun was high in the sky, the buildings were left at its mercy.
