Basics of differential diagnostics in internal medicine

The publication is intended to serve the needs of medical students and young doctors in preparation for the exam that follows completion of the common core and certification from the internist. In a total of 10 chapters, the differential diagnosis of the most common symptoms and clinical or biochemical findings in clinical practice is comprehensively processed. In addition to general symptoms, the text addresses the manifestations of diseases in specific subspecialties of internal medicine. The uniform outline of all chapters includes the definition and characteristics of symptoms, annotated tables, a description of the method of taking a medical history, an overview of physical examinations, and a selection of basic and special examinations, supplemented by references to key literature. The aim is, among other things, to provide guidance on implementing the differential diagnostic principle and synthetic clinical thinking in clinical practice.
