A bleak future
The future in Battlefield 2042 doesn't look too bright. Humanity has been hit full force by various crises, including the climate crisis, leaving the whole world struggling with a shortage of food, water and other vital resources. To make matters worse, the USA goes to war with Russia, and you become a part of it, in the skin of one of the specialists fighting not so much for nations, but for their own survival.

Battle the weather
In the future, the weather is something that can't be relied upon. In fact, it will become another enemy that you'll have to deal with constantly. After all, a giant tornado or a sandstorm engulfing the entire map cannot be completely ignored.
