Beastie Boys: Check Your Head - CD

“Check Your Head“ is the third Beastie Boys studio album, released on April 21, 1992. It was recorded at G-Son Studios in Atwater Village, California in 1991.

Beastie Boys is a three-member American hip-hop group founded in 1979 in New York. They started as a hardcore band called Young And The Useless. In 1982, their first EP, Polly Wog Stew, saw the light of day.

Over time, they are more inclined to rap and this is also related to the arrival of the concert teammate and later their producer - DJ Double RR (vl. on behalf of Rick Rubin). After signing a contract with Def Jam Recordings (1984), they accompany the singer Madonna on an American tour. Only at that time did the composition of the ensemble stabilize in its current form.

Their 1986 debut album Licensed to Ill is the first ever rap recording to top the US charts. The album sold for hundreds of thousands - it was 9 times platinum. The second act, called Paul' s Boutique, produced by Dust Brothers, failed commercially, but was later appreciated by both critics and fans. The following records were very successful and mostly occupied the top positions of the American and world charts.

The band' s official DJ was originally André “Doctor Dré“ Brown, who was later permanently replaced by Hurricane. In 1998, he became DJ of Mixmaster Mike. In the eighties, they also appeared in several films, e. g. Krush Grove (1985).
