Beatles: Beatles 1962-1966 (2x LP) - LP

The famous Red Double Album is the most popular compilation from the first half of the Beatles' great career, from the first hit Love Me Do to songs from Rubber Soul. It captures their charming transformation from a cheerful teenage band to the most creative rock band of all time.

The Beatles were an English rock' n' roll band from Liverpool. Its members were John Lennon (vocals, backing guitar), Paul McCartney (vocals, bass guitar), George Harrison (solo guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, occasionally singing). It is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. The Beatles' music is still played and popular around the world. When the renowned music magazine Rolling Stone compiled a list of the best albums in the history of popular music in 2003, the Beatles reached the top ten a total of four times (including 1st place behind Sgt. Pepper' s Lonely Hearts Club Band).

The Beatles led the British music invasion of the United States in the mid-1960s. Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and domestic skiffl, the band tried many different genres from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. With their clothing, styles and sayings, they determined the trends of their time, while their growing interest in social issues influenced the social and cultural upheavals of the 1960s.
