Behind the wheel with Karel Čapek

Car Murders, Good Machine, Street Driver: Karel Čapek wrote a number of very funny and readable essays about transport and especially about cars. After extensive research, the first part of a unique publication was created, presenting the artist as a motorist, theoretician and practitioner, owner of the Škoda Popular and Rapid. The following report describes the reconstruction of the last of the Master's great trips to the Alps in a seventy-year-old rapid and the accompanying Skoda Fabia Combi RS. The readable text, interspersed with facsimiles of itineraries with authentic notes on gas prices, the steepness of the hills, the constant alternation of driving left and right according to not yet harmonized European regulations, but also the taste of cherries and the smell of mountains, is of high value as a travelogue that tempts to imitate.
