Between the tiara and the eagle I.: (1045-1073)

Thanks to King Vratislav, the Czech lands became for the first time an important force in Central European politics. This dramatic story from the second half of the 11th century tells the story of his long and turbulent life based on surviving historical sources. The first part follows the fate of the five Přemyslids, sons of Prince Břetislav, who are fighting for power in the Czech lands. Although Vratislav is not the firstborn and according to his father's will becomes a mere heir to the Olomouc destiny, the elder Spytihnev rightly perceives him as a rival. Bloody battles and the plundering of enemy territory are intertwined with the daily life of the court, love and intrigue.
