Bhutan: Snowman Trek - DVD

A four-part series about an incredibly difficult and long trek, considered by many to be the toughest mountain trek in the world. With its challenging statistics (300km long with 27km of elevation gain) and traditionally poor weather, it has become a sought-after standard despite the fact that less than half of those who start the trek actually finish it. The film chronicles the trials of the difficult journey and shares many interesting facts about this small Himalayan country, which until recently was completely isolated from the outside world. It also explores the team's psychology under the constant stress caused by the adverse weather.

A series of travelogues by Martin Kratochvíl from the Bhutanese-Tibetan border. Mention the Snowman Trek to a mountain trekking enthusiast, and their pupils will likely narrow, their face will light up, and you'll probably hear words of admiration and excitement. The Snowman is legendary. It is arguably the toughest trek in the world. The route is 370 kilometres long, and a hiker will climb a total elevation of 27 kilometres. That's more than three Everests stacked on top of each other. Fewer than half of the people who attempt the trek complete it, due to the significant risks of bad weather, exhaustion, and the remoteness of the mountains on the Bhutanese-Tibetan border, from where it's impossible to get out by land if it snows. Musician and filmmaker Martin Kratochvíl, for whom the Himalayas have become a lifelong passion, also embarked on this arduous journey.
