BigBandTronics: Six Movements of Sonification

BigBandTronics: Six Movements of Sonification
American conductor Ed Partyka combines jazz big band and contemporary electronic dance music on his new album, Bigbandtronics - Prague Edition. In collaboration with the best players of the young Czech jazz generation, he follows on from the similarly ambitious combination of the Czechoslovak Radio Jazz Orchestra (JOČR) and Blue Effect in the 1970s (New Synthesis). Unlike that project with rock musicians, the co-creators of today's sound are better known in the electronic scene: Alois Kott and Peter Eisold, members of the German nu-jazz formation nuBox. The big band unit is the Czech-Slovak Concept Art Orchestra. Together on the CD Bigbandtronics - Prague Edition, they present a cycle of brand new compositions under the collective title Six Movements of Sonification, which combine electronic dance music with the sound of a jazz orchestra.
