Never Again to the Border!
Michal Kunc studied military medicine and believed his primary role would be treating soldiers. However, this was Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 80s, a time when a military doctor’s medical education was more of a hindrance than a help, and their common sense clashed with the insurmountable stupidity of “socialist officers.” The conflict between normal thinking and “barracks logic” inevitably led to humorous, unbelievable, and sometimes tragic experiences that military doctors had to navigate.
From the very beginning, the book makes us laugh, but by the end, it also forces us to reflect on the absurdity of the not-so-distant past.
