Biomedical Ergonomics
The text of this book is designed as a complex set of data on constitution, cognition, and communication. A person is defined and limited by their physical parameters – physical ergonomics, cognitive abilities (i.e., the capacity to acquire and the speed of processing information) – cognitive ergonomics, and the properties of organisational structures and processes based on communication – communication ergonomics.
The book provides an introductory, primarily biological and evolutionary, foundation of ergonomics. The text is made as comprehensible as possible, even for non-biological fields of study. It assumes a basic knowledge of natural sciences, including somatology, and the ability to look up missing information and reflect on possible connections.
The formal structure of the text, its colour coding, and the choice of documentation also correspond to this aim. The synopses represent a sort of minimum that expands on the topic under discussion and highlights the broader context of the specific issue.
In this concept, ergonomics becomes a typical interdisciplinary, or rather, transdisciplinary field. The transdisciplinary nature of ergonomics gives it its status as an independent scientific discipline.
The book features rich, colourful, and original illustrative documentation.
