Black and White World

A deep and moving story set in the 1960s American South, told through the eyes of three extraordinary women. At a time of prevailing racial segregation, a deep chasm divides the black and white worlds. Young and ambitious, Skeeter, a white woman, refuses to settle for the traditional female role that society has predetermined for her. Unlike her friends, she intends to work and achieve something great. With the help of the wise Aibileen and the sharp-tongued Minny, she decides to show the world through the eyes of black maids and write a shocking book that will turn the town upside down. Beyond the questions of racism and the position of women in society lies a deeper message about boundaries – both real and those that exist only in our minds.
