Black Sabbath: Black Sabbath - LP

Black Sabbath is the first studio album by the British band of the same name. It was released on Friday the 13th (13 February). Many critics rate this album, especially the title track, as the first purely metal record.

This album was condemned by many religious groups as satanic, mainly because of the title track, Black Sabbath, which was based on a dream bassist Geezer had. However, the song is about a man who has fallen into Satanism and depicts how evil Satanism is.

With their debut album, Black Sabbath clearly defined the style they would forge in the years to come. The opening track, after which the whole record is named, can be seen as the Sabbath's manifesto. The intro features falling rain, with thunder and a church bell heard in the distance. Then come the first striking notes of Iommi's guitar, followed by Osbourne's raw and wailing vocals.

Black Sabbath is an English heavy metal band, also considered to be the founders of heavy metal, who have influenced many other styles.
Original line-up: Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Terrance "Geezer" Butler (bass guitar) and Bill Ward (drums).
