Blood of the First Born

Captain Stein, Notary Barbaric and Corporal Jaroš come to Prague by the summons of the Emperor's brother, Archduke Matthias. While by daylight the new imperial residence grows, becomes rich and prosperous, by night it turns into a labyrinth of crime and suspicious immigrants from all over Europe. And the master of the sharp sword is definitely not idle. But when a man in a black hood appears to murder the first-born children of prominent Catholic dignitaries, even the seasoned Captain Stein faces a difficult conundrum. Mystical marks carved into the bodies of the victims lead the investigators to Jewish Town. Is this the revenge of the rich Jews? Or is someone just trying to distract from the real perpetrator? It soon turns out that all may not be as it seems at first sight in the royal Prague. Captain Stein finds himself on the trail of a vast conspiracy that reaches all the way to the royal court.
