Body Thieves

Young nobleman James Willoughby arrives in Edinburgh to study medicine. The university there offers everything he desires—except for the opportunity to dissect a human body. He must therefore enrol in one of the private schools, which he cannot afford for financial reasons.

In desperation, he makes a deal with the assistant of the renowned anatomist Aneurin 'Nye' MacKinnon, who offers him a job and thus access to his studies. However, James soon realises that he has made a deal with the devil. Nye is one of the city's grave robbers. Captivated by Nye, James joins his group, notorious for stealing corpses to be used as anatomical specimens. James thus becomes a body snatcher, and not only does he now have one foot in prison at all times, but he also finds himself, along with Nye and his people, in the middle of a war between thieving gangs who do not shy away from cold-blooded murder.
