Bonding in practice

The need to firmly glue two fixed entities is encountered both in households and in industrial production. With the development of chemistry, a wide range of adhesives has emerged and the problem of what to glue and why, what to glue and how to glue it has arisen in practice.

The expert publication with many practical examples introduces the reader to the solution of the given problem. In the book you will find a classification of adhesives according to chemical or physical structure (resp. according to the number of components), a detailed description of the principles of bonded joint formation, surface treatment, strength tests.

A comprehensive chapter then deals with bonding according to adherend types (plastics, glass, metals, ceramics, leather, textiles, etc. ) including suitable adhesives and recommended surface treatments. The technology of the bonded surface (application of adhesives, joint formation, continuous and discontinuous bonding) and an overview of new technologies in this area are also included.

The final chapters are devoted to individual groups of adhesives (secondary adhesives, hot melt adhesives, acrylic sealants, silicone sealants). A detailed table with an overview of the use of common types of adhesives is also useful.
