The life story of Božena Němcová was first told in the successful miniseries Božena, written by Hana Wlodarczyk together with Martina Komárková, and then in the book of the same name. All the events recorded here are based on real records, correspondence and available memories of witnesses. We recognize in him a truly bright, intelligent and gifted beautiful woman who dreamed and lived to the full, and in her opinions and actions seemed to have been two centuries ahead of our time. Seventeen-year-old Bára is married by her parents to a much older border guard officer, Josef Němec, who rejects his wife's unmarried life according to the conventions of the time, although he himself is progressive in many ways. Thanks to him, Bára meets a number of Czech patriots, discovers her literary abilities, and becomes "Bozena". Their relationship is tumultuous, in many ways unhappy, a combination of two strong different characters, constantly bumping into each other. The story of the famous writer's life is full of amorous adventures and poverty, constant moving, partnership disputes, grief over the death of her son and her own illness. When we know the difficult circumstances under which Němcová created her famous works, we must appreciate her work all the more. And when we recognize the strength and courage she had within her, we will understand why she is so important to us in the 21st century.
