Brewing
Beer probably began to be produced tens of thousands of years ago in Mesopotamia. This book describes the history of the production of the golden beverage with some of the customs and superstitions associated with this drink. The beginnings of organized brewing in monastic breweries, especially in Bohemia, are mapped, the establishment of burgher breweries in the newly founded Czech royal towns, the activities of the right-warrior burgesses and their struggle with the nobility for the right to brew beer are described. The evolution of brewery machinery from the medieval, manually operated brewery to today's modern plants and technologies for producing our national beverage is also presented.
