Brno Philharmonic, Jílek František: Taras Bulba - CD

An expert on Janáček' s legacy as a composer, the Brno conductor and long-time head of the opera, František Jílek, made a recording of the Master' s orchestral work in 1991-1993 (he recorded the Sinfonietta in 1986).

This set has become very popular on the market precisely for Jílek' s extraordinary acquaintance with the specific musical language of Leoš Janáček. In 1958, when the first Janáček festival took place in Brno on his initiative, František Jílek staged and performed all of Janáček' s operas, including Destiny, and most of his orchestral works. We are returning Jílek' s recordings to the market as a rare art documentary about the interpretation of Janáček' s original work.
