Brubaker - Blu-ray

A new convict, Henry Brubaker (Robert Redford), is brought to Wakefield Penitentiary. But it soon becomes clear that he is not just an ordinary prisoner.
The new director of the state prison will start his new post incognito in order to get to know him better. The appalling conditions and conditions prevailing in the prison force him to initiate a fundamental reform in line with a humane idea of the meaning of punishment. The struggle against a system in which leaders abuse their position for personal enrichment and create a cruel internal order is becoming increasingly acute. Brubaker, initially supported by the governor, seeks reform with a purpose, so that the punishment actually serves to reform the prisoners, but it will provoke resistance from those who have benefited from privilege, but also the state prison commission, riddled with politicking.

The film was nominated for an Academy Award(R) for Best Original Screenplay.
