Captain America: The First Avenger - DVD

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One

Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is an idealistic young man who, like the vast majority of his peers, longs to join the army to help America defeat the Nazis when his country enters the Second World War. However, he doesn't stand a chance, as he is undersized and frail. His only asset is the sheer stubbornness with which he repeatedly gets rejected by draft boards. Ultimately, this determination leads to him being selected as a suitable candidate for a unique scientific experiment designed to produce Super-Soldiers for America.

His transformation is a success. Thanks to a scientific team led by Dr. Erskine (Stanley Tucci), Steve becomes the perfect human specimen. Yet, he won't be fighting the Nazis, because a much more dangerous enemy has emerged. The secret organisation HYDRA, led by the ruthless villain Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving), has begun to hatch its own plans for world domination.
