The third edition of the successful publication retains the structure of the previous two, but the expanded author team has revised the publication. The general part includes chapters on functional morphology of the myocardium and coronary circulation, electrophysiology, cardiac contraction, circulatory regulation and hemodynamic variables. Newly developed genetics, quantitative evaluation of epidemiological studies. The chapters on risk factors, examination methods and therapy have been updated. A special section is devoted to clinical issues. It highlights the leading symptoms, leading to rational thinking, investigation and treatment. The chapters on dyspnoea and heart failure syndrome have been substantially revised, about chest pain and coronary syndromes, about hypertension, arrhythmias, hypotension and syncope, also about heart enlargement and cardiomyopathies, about heart murmurs, heart defects, about fever in a cardiac patient (endocarditis, embolization, tumours) and about pain in the lower limbs. The book serves as a pre- and postgraduate textbook.
