Čechomor: Inhalation - CD

The album Nadechnutí (A Breath) aims to be another pinnacle of Čechomor's work, just like their album Proměny (Transformations) (2001), which became a significant milestone not only for the band itself but also for the Czech and Slovak music scene at the turn of the century.

Folk songs, complemented by several of the band's original tracks, were given a significant arranging impulse by Jan Valta, who created brilliant brass arrangements to accompany Čechomor's traditional rock style. A wide range of musical styles, from symphonic music to authentic Czech brass band music, offers a new and unusual sound for the band Čechomor, accompanied by Kumpanovi muzikanti (Kumpan's Musicians) under the direction of virtuoso trumpeter Vlado Kumpan.
Nadechnutí demonstrates that folk songs can have a contemporary and very modern sound, appealing to a broad spectrum of listeners.

The band Čechomor is celebrating thirty years since its formation this year. They have won over fans and critics alike, primarily with their imaginative arrangements and distinctive interpretation of music based on folk songs. Seventeen years have passed since the breakthrough year of 2001, when Čechomor won three Anděl awards (for Band of the Year, for the album Proměny, and for the song of the same name). In that time, the band has performed not only at home and in Slovakia, but also throughout Europe, and has toured North America, Australia, and Asia. They have collaborated with several prominent music producers (e.g., Ben Mendelson, Gerry Leonard), performed with several symphony orchestras, Japanese musician Joji Hirota, American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega, and many others. In recent years, the musicians gathered around band leaders František Černý and Karel Holas, with guest singer Martina Pártlová, have worked extensively on a new, more modern sound, more distinctive arrangements, and a new repertoire. The album Nadechnutí is proof of this.
