Dear donors to the Constellation of Help,

For 18 years, Světluška has been helping severely visually impaired children, adults and seniors to live independent and meaningful lives through its long-term project. Světluška and its traditional activities, based on face-to-face meetings, were also affected by the pandemic year of 2020. However, it used the unfavourable situation as a new opportunity to connect with donors online, which led to new projects such as Café in the Dark: Online and the Podcast in the Dark, which, thanks to its large listenership, earned a continuation in 2021.

Even in a time that was not conducive to meeting, Světluška experienced extraordinary favour from donors. A big thank you therefore goes to all those who did not put helping others on the back burner and persistently helped, even virtually. It is also thanks to your support that for eighteen years Světluška has been able to build a system of quality care for the visually impaired through organisations which, thanks to the foundation's support, can implement their projects focused on, for example, education, job creation, the development of new technologies, or guide and assistance services. In Světluška's grant procedures, thanks to the kind help of donors and corporate partners, a total of 217 applications from individuals and 151 applications from non-profit organisations were supported in 2020, amounting to a total of 21.4 million crowns.

Twice the Joy

Sports enthusiasts, coffee lovers, fans of novel experiences, music fans and passers-by who prefer to simply contribute to a collection box on the street. Throughout the year, Světluška focuses primarily on its ongoing projects and strives to provide donors with attractive and educational experiences that bring joy twice over. Both to the donors and to the individuals and organisations that Světluška can help with these contributions. Café in the Dark, Night Runs for Světluška, the Light for Světluška concert, or the Collection Days are Světluška's evergreens.

The visually impaired grow with every obstacle

However impossible it may seem, there are many top-performing athletes among the visually impaired. A visual impairment does not stand in the way of, for example, Honza, a competitor in the extreme three-member relay race BOBR CUP, Ironman Marek, swimmer Nikol, or parkourist Honza. Světluška helps them, too, to achieve their dream goals.

Help for those who care for their loved ones

Few things are as difficult as caring for a son or daughter with a disability. Early care services, among others, help parents who often don't know what to do at first. “It was a great relief to share the worries we practically didn't understand, to have someone who would listen, give advice, and bring aids suitable for Adélka's development,” described the mother of the visually impaired Adélka about her experience. Early care services are one of the many organisations that Světluška provides long-term financial assistance to.

About the Czech Radio Endowment Fund

The Czech Radio Endowment Fund was established by Czech Radio in 2000. The mission of the endowment fund is based on the belief that every person is unique in their essence and has a special place and role in society. It is therefore important that they are surrounded by an environment in which they can develop their abilities. Through its projects, the endowment fund creates such an environment and enables people, without distinction, to be part of this space. The best-known project of the endowment fund is Světluška, which helps people with severe visual impairments to lead an independent and meaningful life through a public collection. However, the endowment fund also activates its activities in the case of humanitarian and other charitable aid, e.g., the Pustevny public collection, or Help Nepal with Us.
