Charlie Bucket lives with his parents and grandparents in a dilapidated little house. They are poor, but they love each other and wouldn't trade each other for the world. Nearby stands a giant chocolate factory where Charlie's grandpa once worked and personally knew the owner, Willy Wonka. Charlie, who adores chocolate, dreams of visiting the factory one day, but it seems quite impossible—until Willy Wonka announces a competition. Five child winners from around the world will get to spend a day in the factory. All they need to do is find a golden ticket in one of the chocolate bars.
