Interview of Aleš Palán with Miloslav Nevrly

Miloslav Nevrlý is undoubtedly a legend for tramps of all kinds. For those who only dream of travelling, this interview can be a real revelation. Even today it is possible to be close to nature, to experience and understand it. Even today it is possible to live a fulfilled life.
Miloslav Nevrlý, by the Boy Scout nickname of Chief, is a prime example, that you can walk through unknown lands without a map, carry basically nothing in your backpack, to surrender to uncertainty and thus find joy and meaning. It was he who, after the removal of the German population, basically rediscovered the forgotten places of the northernmost Czech mountains and wrote about it in the award-winning Book about the Jizera Mountains. It was he who taught the readers of the Carpathian Games to play the games of the light-hearted pilgrim or the morning joy; many people claim that this slim book has literally changed their lives.
Miloslav Nevrlý completes ninety years of his life in admirable physical and mental condition. In an audiobook interview, he recounts his travels and experiences beyond what he has written about them so far. He also talks about his faith, his work (better said, his job) in the Liberec museum, his family and friends. In particular, he recalls his expeditions to lonely mountains, of which there are so few today.
In an interview called The Chief, he proves that the benefits of travel can be reaped at any age if the soul remains eager. All this is spiced up with a hefty dose of humour.
