Playroom for Children - At the Klokánek centre, we are missing an equipped playroom for the children. We have a beautiful space, but we need to furnish it with furniture, a carpet, and add a few interactive games. The playroom should serve not only for playing but also for education. Unfortunately, we also lack a computer network that would help connect the internet throughout the Klokánek building, so that the children could use it, for example, for their schoolwork.

About the non-profit organisation
Klokánek is a project of the Fund for Children in Need, which provides an alternative to the system of institutional care. It offers children family-style care for the time necessary until they can return to their own family, or until a new foster home is found for them.
Klokánek operates non-stop, admitting children day or night, even on weekends. They can be admitted at the request of their parents, on the basis of a preliminary injunction, or at the request of the child themselves. In Klokánek, children are cared for in every respect (similar to a family) by two 'aunties' who take turns weekly. An 'aunty' looks after the children for a whole week without a break. The children are therefore used to 'their aunties' and do not suffer from emotional deprivation. There can be a maximum of four children in a 'Klokánek' family.
Together with 'their aunty', they live in a flat equipped just like a normal household. There are no strict rules and regulations as is often the case in institutional facilities. In short – we try to create an environment for the children that is as close as possible to a normal family. The 'aunty' is like a mother on maternity leave; she cooks, does the laundry, cleans, helps the children with their homework, takes them to school, to the doctor and to after-school clubs, plays with the children and educates them.
Project Sponsor
After primary school, she studied at the Secondary School of Economics, majoring in administrative organisation. After her maternity leave, she worked as an economist for the company Pramen, then she joined the Fund for Children in Need. During her time there, she completed a course for Social Service Workers. Her great role model and teacher was JUDr. Marie Vodičková, founder of the Fund for Children in Need and Klokánek. In 2015, Hanka became the statutory representative of the FOD and a member of the presidium, and in 2019, she became the Chairwoman of the FOD.
