CIA worker Jack Ryan ( Harrison Ford ) fights not only against the Colombian drug mafia, but also against the betrayal and dishonesty of his own colleagues.

Jack' s mentor, Admiral James Greer ( James Earl Jones ) becomes seriously ill and Agent Ryan takes his place. The first task is to clarify the murder of the president' s friend, a prominent American businessman with secret ties to Colombian drug cartels.
Although the crime turns out to be the fault of the killers of the Colombian cartel, with whom the “president' s friend“ was in contact, the head of state decides to retaliate. An order is issued to create a special secret unit to destroy the headquarters of the Colombian bosses. This is an illegal operation because US troops are only allowed to operate abroad if there is a “clear danger“. Agent John Clark ( Willem Dafoe ) is in charge of the field action.
Meanwhile, Jack Ryan is also looking for murder motives. He uncovers a connection with the Colombian drug trade and goes to Bogota. When Ryan comes under crossfire, he takes matters into his own hands. He thus risks his career and life for the only thing he still believes in - the truth.
