Comic Book Heroines

We're girls, we love comics, and we want there to be more and more of us. We create, we draw, we write, and we want people to know about it. We meet up, we debate, and we constantly strive to move forward, improving everything we do. And ourselves.

The first 'Laydeez do Comics' group was founded in Great Britain. Others soon followed—Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds, Dublin, San Francisco, Chicago. In 2015, the Czech Republic was added to the list, where we, Tereza Drahoňovská and Štěpánka Jislová, founded the branch and created Laydeez do Comics Prague.

We held our first comic symposium in 2016 and it earned us the Muriel Award for Contribution to Czech Comics. But we don't do things by halves, so we pull a new theme, symposium, and exhibition out of our hats every year. We're interested in stories told by women, and we want to provide a platform for both emerging and experienced female creators from here and abroad. And as you can see from this collection, the results are well worth it!
