Cooder Joachim: Over That Road I' m Bound - CD

Joachim Cooder's first album for the Nonesuch label is a collection of songs selected from the repertoire of banjo player Uncle Dave Macon.

He rearranged the songs to suit the electric mbira (a type of African thumb piano). He recorded the collected songs with his band and various guests - Ry Cooder (banjo, guitar, bass, backing vocals), Rayna Gellert (fiddle), Juliette Commagere (backing vocals), Sam Gendel (bass), Glenn Patscha (piano and organ), Amir Yaghmai (yali tambur), Dan Gellert (banjo and fiddle), and Vieux Farka Touré (guitar). The album is available on CD and 2LP.
