Shadows over the Cottages
František and Florián, two boys from the Czech interior, coincidentally arrive in the border region of the Ore Mountains shortly after the establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic. One yearns for a life of adventure, the other and his family come out of compulsion. He settles in the small village of Chaloupky and tries to get used to his new life in the mountains and among the locals. However, only two Czech families live in the entire village, the rest of the population is German. And although in the interwar period people got along well and were used to helping each other, with the rising tide of aggressive nationalism, the established order in the borderlands quickly took over. The hitherto reasonable people are becoming enemies and in the newly formed Sudetenland none of the Czechs are safe anymore...
Štěpán Javůrek
I was born on 27 September 1987 in Ústí nad Labem. I also spent the first years of my life there and later I returned to my grandparents' house in Ústí nad Labem - Skorotice for weekends and holidays whenever I could. I had a wonderful childhood here. Later we moved to Chomutov, another fateful city for my life. Here I went to primary school and later to high school, played football, basketball and volleyball, met my friends and first loves. In short, a time of games and unripe raspberries. I still like to come back to Chomutov. After graduation I left my parents' house and a turbulent period began for me, a time of searching for my place in life and myself. I studied, I lived, I learned, I gained various experiences, both positive and negative. In 2013 I finally settled in Chodov, near Karlovy Vary, and in 2018 I got married. I live, work and create here to this day. Close to my beloved Ore Mountains, surrounded by friends and loved ones. What more could one ask for.
