Criminal Offside

To introduce the readers of detective novels to the group of criminologists from Písek, about whom the emeritus crime writer Ladislav Beran has been writing for quite a few years now, is a bit of carrying wood into the forest. His book heroes, Captain Karas, Lieutenant Studnička and Lieutenant Mach, are not supermen, they are quite ordinary cops who know that the perpetrators of crimes are always a bit ahead of the game and that every case is different and wants to get the straight scoop. In sporting terminology, the galerka usually scores first, and although it looks like they have the upper hand for a while and the criminal team is getting beaten, eventually the group of criminals from Písek gets on the break.
