Please help UNICEF continue to save lives from unnecessary death

The second wave of the pandemic in India has struck twice as much and is spreading much faster. Hospitals are critically overcrowded and are struggling to handle a huge number of new cases. To help with the second wave of the pandemic, UNICEF has already sent the necessary humanitarian needs, including 3,014 oxygen concentrators, diagnostic tests, first aid kits and other equipment.

We can' t afford to wait. New cases are growing exponentially

In the midst of this crisis, we must not forget the children and the tragedy they are experiencing. Because of COVID-19, they lose their parents and loved ones, face mental health problems and are at greater risk of violence because quarantine has cut them off from school and other support networks.
The most vulnerable children are suffering the most in this crisis. In 2020, many Indian families lost their livelihood. It is estimated that 122 million people lost their jobs, leading to an increase in poverty and malnutrition in the most needy families. Children whose parents have died or lost their jobs risk being forced to leave school and start working in order to earn a living.
More and more children and young people are fighting the virus. A recent report under the auspices of UNICEF warns that India may have the highest under-5 mortality rate due to unprecedented disruption to medical care.

How UNICEF helps

UNICEF has been active in India for a long time. They have already sent the necessary humanitarian needs to help with the second wave of the pandemic, including 3,014 oxygen concentrators, diagnostic tests, first aid kits and other equipment. In addition to this assistance, UNICEF provided until April 26, 2021 in India:
512 high-flow nasal cannulas that were distributed to 10 countries25 large-capacity oxygen generators in 4 states in the northeastern region of India72 thermal scanners at hospital entrances and 85 RT-PCR machines for increased testing
On May 4, UNICEF distributed additional aid to India from a humanitarian depot in Dubai, including 2 million face shields and 200,000 surgical drapes. As part of its awareness of the principles of disease prevention, UNICEF has already reached more than 660 million people across the country.

In parallel with providing emergency assistance to patients, UNICEF is also assisting the Government of India in ensuring the continuity of essential services for the most vulnerable children. In the worst-affected countries, such as Maharashtra, UNICEF has deployed its experienced experts to provide support to state and local authorities in responding immediately, planning and monitoring the epidemiological situation.
UNICEF has also provided more than 11,000 protective kits to Indian Children' s Line staff to continue to help children in need. In all countries, UNICEF provides advice and support on the safety of children in institutional care.
