Czech desire

Is our sexuality really ours? Or does it just reflect the stories we grew up with?

Desire knows no boundaries or standards. But we build a lot of them in our heads.
Over six years, independent journalist Hana Vacková has collected more than a hundred frank testimonies about relationships, desire, infidelity, shame and the joy of sex. Now, on the basis of nineteen selected intimate confessions, he opens the door to Czech bedrooms.
Thanks to the broader context and expert commentary, you will understand how human sexuality is shaped by psychological and social influences - from Christian tradition to social networks to trauma processing. And how deeply they penetrate our expectations.
The book will reveal to you, among other things: There is no such thing as " normal" sexuality. Anything that happens voluntarily between mature people who are not close relatives and do not harm anyone is okay. Sexuality is not an unchanging trait, but a dynamic system that changes throughout life due to stress, hormones, and experiences. A satisfying intimate life is not a matter of talent or chemistry, but of skills that we can acquire throughout life. Infidelity may not arise from a lack of love, but as an escape from the pressures of a society that allows only one "right" type of relationship. Sex is not and cannot be claimed - even in a long-term relationship or marriage.
Czech Desire is not a collection of spicy stories.
She is a sensitive guide to human sexuality - in all its complexity, fragility and diversity. And you will find yourself in it too.

They wrote about the book:

A book about sex that is not so much about sex. Czech desire reveals the most important thing: that our sexuality is in many ways a reflection of our psyche and that one without the other simply does not exist.
