Czech Philharmonic, Mackerras Charles: My Homeland - CD

A well-known expert on Czech music and a pupil of the founder of Czech modern conducting art, Václav Talich, an Australian conductor living in Great Britain, Charles Mackerras, enriches his Czech music disco with a substantial dramaturgical item.

The cycle of symphonic poems by Bedřich Smetana My Homeland is not only an attractive export item of Czech music, but also a touchstone of the artistic abilities of guest conductors. The film is a record of last year' s (1999) opening concert of the Prague Spring International Music Festival.
