Death as art

When a famous performance artist is found dead in a tank full of formaldehyde at the opening of her own exhibition, suspicion immediately falls on those closest to her.

The lead investigator is Shanti Joyce, who was recently transferred from London to Yeovil after her last case didn't go nearly as well as it should have, plus her marriage fell apart. Shanti quickly discovers that it will take more than cold logic to investigate, and when a colleague recommends Vince Cain, aka Veggie, Shanti seeks out the oddball detective.

The two investigators immerse themselves in a bohemian community and discover a place full of resentment and jealousy. And he soon discovers that despite the ongoing investigation, the killer is not only very sophisticated, but also seemingly elusive.

Can an unlikely pair of detectives – pragmatic and grounded Shanti and mystical Cain with his inexplicable intuition – prove to be the real key to catching a cunning killer?
