Death at Chrudim Castle
Double Murder in Chrudim: Political Intrigue and Dark Crimes in the Age of John of Luxembourg
After the death of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VII of Luxembourg, his son, the Bohemian king John of Luxembourg, is a contender for the throne, as is Frederick of Habsburg, the younger brother of the former Bohemian king Rudolf. Frederick realises that his prospects are not good, so he decides to take subversive action against John of Luxembourg. The situation is further complicated by the former queen, Elizabeth Richeza. The double murder in Chrudim, one of Elizabeth's towns, suggests that something is afoot. The seasoned investigators—the knight Blahota of Lítožnice and the monk Brother Christopher from the Zbraslav monastery—set out to unravel the mysterious crimes and their suspected background. Upon their arrival in Chrudim, however, they discover that everything is far worse than they had feared in their darkest imaginings.
