Historical novel about the preparation of the assassination of Heydrich by the author of M+B+M
The liquidation of Acting Protector Heydrich is considered to be one of the most courageous acts not only in the context of the Czechoslovak resistance, but of the entire Second World War.
The novel Death on the Bark shows the preparations for the liquidation of the Nazi deathhead, the hell that broke loose after its execution or the apocalyptic final battle in the church in Prague's Resslova Street. At the same time, however, it does not forget the claustrophobic atmosphere caused by the German repression and the immeasurable heroism of all those who helped the paratroopers and, in their majority, paid for it with their own lives and the lives of their families. The central figure is Adolf Opalka, a brave man, the commander of the Czechoslovak paratroopers. Lieutenant Adolf Opalka, who until now stood in the shadow of the heroes Kubiš and Gabčík or the traitor Karel Čurda.
